Famous Badminton players
Prakash Padukone was born in 1955. He was introduced to game at the age of five by his father who was the Secretary of the Mysore Badminton Association for many years. He went on to win the Indian national junior title in 1972 and the senior title the same year. He won the Indian national title consecutively for the next seven years, until 1979. In 1979, he won his first major international title, at the Commonwealth Game followed by wins at the London Masters’ Open, the Denmark Open and the Swedish Open. He won the coveted All England Open title in 1980 with a victory over Indonesian rival Liem Swie King. He spent much of his international career training in Denmark, and developed close friendships with European players such as Morten Frost.
Morten Frost or Morten Frost Hansen who was born in Denmark in 1958, was one the greatest badminton players in the world. He spent twelve years in the top three of the world rankings. During this period, he won everything there was to be won, except the World Badminton Championships where he had to be satisfied with a silver medal twice (1985 and 1987). Frost is also distinguished by winning all of the invitational Grand Prix tournaments at least once, including his home country's Denmark Open, of which he was champion 1980-1986 and 1989. Morten Frost represented his home country on the national team from 1976 to 1991, longer than anyone else. He now trains the Danish team.
