Holding a Halloween party
Having a Halloween party, whether for adults or children, or both, is definitely great fun – and reminds us of the turn of the seasons, which is something we can lose track of in our busy modern lives.
Here are some tips that can be used to make your party more enjoyable. With a little planning and time to prepare you can organise a Halloween to remember:
- Dry ice can be purchased from many costume shops these days and adds a fantastic eerie sensation, especially round a bowl containing winter punch, which can be served from a plastic cauldron with a ladle like witch’s brew – however, you need make sure that the person serving keeps any dry ice chips out of drinks as it can cause severe injury if ingested.
- If you are holding your party in your house, make sure that you move any breakable pieces of furniture or ornaments to a room where they can't get broken. Low light is best for Halloween and people tripping on their costumes and breaking your prized possessions will ruin the evening for you!
- To break the ice, at either an adult party or child's party, make sure that you have some games, like a scavenger hunt or a murder mystery, planned in advance.
- Whip up a batch of Halloween dishes the day before, and have the kids help you out. Any treats or party food that can be made in advance is always a big help.
- Having a pumpkin carving party on the night before Halloween can be a great way to start off the festivities. Or get people to bring their own pumpkins, already carved, to your party and give a prize for the best.
